Early Life and Childhood

Charlie Davies was born in the United States on June 25, 1986, in Manchester, New Hampshire. He has 35 years on the clock. Every year on June 25th, Charlie celebrates his birthday.

Charlie’s father was a drug addict, and his mother, Kathleen, a Raytheon inspector, had a mental health condition that kept her in psychiatric wards on and off since he was about seven years old. Justin is his younger brother.

Charlie Davies attended Brooks School in North Andover, Massachusetts, and graduated with fellow professional Mike Fucito in 2004.

Charlie set several Brooks scoring records during his time there, scoring 29 goals in his junior and senior seasons, respectively. Charlie led Brooks School to a 15-0 league record and the New England Class-A championship during his senior year.

He also wrestled at Brooks, where he was a three-time New England Prep School Champion and a National Prep All-American his sophomore and senior years.

Charlie went to Boston College after high school and played three seasons for the Eagles. Charlie’s sophomore season was cut short after he suffered a knee injury in the first half of the season opener.

Charlie also played for the Westchester Flames of the USL Premier Development League during his college years, scoring six goals in nine appearances.

Charlie finished his comeback season as a finalist for the Hermann Trophy in 2006. He finished his college career with twenty-four goals and ten assists in 37 games, including fifteen goals in sixteen games his final season.

Davies is a soccer analyst for CBS Sports and Major League Soccer. He is also a color analyst for the New England Revolution.

Charlie has been a Director of the ‘Quin Impact Fund & Member Relations at The ‘Quin House since May 2021. He also serves as the host of “The US Soccer Podcast” for the US Soccer Federation.

Prior to playing for the Boston College Eagles and the Westchester Flames in college, he set numerous soccer records at his high school, the Brooks School.

Charlie signed his first professional contract in December 2006 with Swedish Allsvenskan club Hammarby IF before joining Sochaux in July 2009.

Between 2007 and 2009, he was capped seventeen times for the United States national team, scoring four times.

Charlie was involved in a serious car accident on the George Washington Parkway on October 13, 2009, that killed another passenger and left him with severe injuries that kept him out of the 2010 World Cup and effectively ended his international career.

He was airlifted to the Washington Hospital Center Medstar to undergo extensive surgery to repair a lacerated bladder, fractures to his right tibia and femur, facial fractures, and a fracture in his left elbow.

Charlie signed his first professional contract with Allsvenskan club Hammarby IF in December 2006, after an unsuccessful trial with Dutch club Ajax.

On June 24, 2007, he scored his first goal for the club, which proved decisive in Hammarby’s match against Faroese club Klaksvik in the first round of the 2007 Intertoto Cup, but Charlie was unable to score in the Allsvenskan.

He credits his struggles with guiding his work ethic and attitude to both his coach, Tony Gustavsson, and Uruguayan star and retired Hammarby teammate Sebastián Eguren.

Charlie broke through and scored a hat-trick against GAIS in the final match of the 2007 season.
