Who is Carmen Botin O’Shea?

Carmen Botin O’Shea is the ex-wife of Seve Ballesteros, a Spanish World No. 1 golfer who played from the mid-1970s until the mid-1990s.  Carmen Botin O’Shea is also well-known as the daughter of a well-known Spanish financier, Emilio Born. However, both Seve and Emilio died a long time ago.

He has won ninety international tournaments, including five major titles, three Open Championships, and two Masters titles.

Got Married In 1988

In 1983, Carmen met her future spouse, Seve Ballesteros.

In truth, her father arranged for their encounter in order to teach Carmen golf.

Soon after, the couple began dating but kept their relationship private from the rest of the world.

Carmen and Seve married at a beautiful wedding ceremony in November 1988.

They divorced in the Cantabrian municipality of Marina de Cudeyo in 2004.

They welcomed their first child, a son named Javier Ballesteros, into the world on August 20, 1990.

Javier Ballesteros followed in his father’s footsteps and pursued a career as a golfer.

Ex-Husband Passed Away At 54 Years Old,

Carmen’s ex-husband, Ballesteros, passed out at Madrid-Barajas Airport on October 6, 2008, and was taken to the hospital.

Six days later, it was verified that he had a malignant brain tumor.

He had a 12-hour procedure to remove the tumor.

On December 9, 2009, he was released from the hospital and returned home after successfully removing the tumor.

On May 6, 2011, Ballesteros said that his neurological state had deteriorated significantly.

Ballesteros died an hour after his statement, in the early hours of May 7, 2011, at the age of 54.

Family

Carmen Botn O’Shea is the daughter of the former executive chairman of Grupo Santander in Spain, Emilio Botn-Sanz de Sautuola Garcia de Los Rios.

Emilo died on September 10, 2014. Paloma O’Shea Artiano, her mother, was a pianist and the president of The Albeniz Foundation.

Carmen grew up with five siblings, including sisters Ana Patricia Botin, Carolina Botin O’Shea, and Paloma Botin, as well as brothers Javier Botin O’Shea and Emilio Botin O’Shea.
