Since then, he has continued to improve. He made his debut in the Mexican third division soon after and subsequently moved up to the first division with Guadalajara.

After catching the attention of European scouts, Carlos joined Ronald Koeman’s PSV in 2006.

Professional Football Career

After a tough childhood, his life began to improve after he began playing professional football.

He began playing football since he was well compensated. However, once he was accepted into the Chivas Mexico club, he considered becoming a professional footballer.

Salcido’s dedication was recognized when he was called up to the senior team for the first time in 2001. In a 1-1 draw against La Piedad, he made his official debut in the Mexican Primera League.

He helped his team to the two Copa Libertadores Semi-Finals after being promoted to the main team.

Salcido departed Guadalajara for PSV in 2006 after finishing second in the Mexican Primera Division.

He was linked with Arsenal after the 2006 World Cup, but he debunked the speculations by signing a four-year contract with PSV.

In his debut season in the Eredivisie, he only missed one match, and PSV was named champions.

On November 18, 2006, he scored his first goal in the renowned PSV jersey, a magnificent long-distance goal against Excelsior Rotterdam.

Before the start of the 2007/08 season, he was given the number 3 shirt by his teammate Michael Reiziger. He was also given the title of Vice-Captain.

During his four years with PSV, his team won the Dutch league twice. Salcedo appeared in 123 games, scoring three goals. After the 2010 World Cup, he moved from PSV to Fulham.

Carlos aided Clint Dempsey of the United States in his debut match against Blackburn Rovers. Salcido’s time in England, however, was not as enjoyable as it had been in the Netherlands.

He appeared in 28 games for Fulham. However, once the season ended, he requested that the club loan him back to his homeland.

Return to Mexico

He helped Tigres UANL win their third league title and first in 30 years in his first season back in his home country. He signed a long-term contract with the Tigres after that league victory.

Salcido’s return to Guadalajara was officially announced on May 20, 2014.

He played some friendly matches following the 2014 World Cup and his first official game after returning on July 20, in a match against Chiapas.

After his comeback, he left a lasting impression on his supporters.

Chivas fans will never forget the moment he scored the game’s first goal from the penalty spot against arch-rivals Club America on November 24, 2016.

He officially joined Veracruz from his boyhood club in January 2019. On February 4, he made his debut in a 0-0 tie against Guadalajara.

He played his final Liga MX match on November 23, 2019, in a 1-3 loss against his childhood club, Guadalajara.

He was called up for the National squad in 2004 after his outstanding performance in Guadalajara.

On September 8, he made his debut against Trinidad and Tobago in a World Cup 2006 qualifying match. However, after his debut, he quickly established himself as the team’s main left-back.

During his eleven-year career with Mexico, he appeared in 124 games and scored 10 goals. Carlos was a key member of the team when Mexico won the Gold Cup in 2011 and Olympic Gold the following year.

He was instrumental in Mexico’s fourth-place performance at the 2005 Confederations Cup in Germany. He scored his first goal for the national team in extra time of their semi-final encounter against Argentina.

He went the length of the field with the Mexican half ball and scored a fantastic goal.

Ricardo Lavolpe, the Mexican coach, named him to the 24-man roster for the 2006 World Cup.

As a result, Salcido was able to participate in all four games. Similarly, he played every match for Mexico in the 2010 World Cup.

Fans and analysts were taken aback when he was named to the 2014 squad. He made his debut in the round of 16 against the Netherlands. Mexico, unfortunately, lost that match and was eliminated from the competition.
