Early Years

While other kids in the Bahamas experimented with marijuana, dropped out of school, and loitered in the streets, Hield had discovered a purpose in basketball and a source of inspiration.

The sportsman started telling his family and friends that he wanted to play in the NBA when he was 11 years old, just like Kobe Bryant and other players he saw on television.

Hield’s dream was dismissed by the majority of residents of Eight Mile Rock as unrealistic.

In the local high schools, construction workers, welders, and auto mechanics were all marketed as careers for teenage boys who were fortunate enough to graduate.

Being a professional athlete was practically unheard of, and they hardly ever attended college. In reality, only two Bahamian-born players have made significant contributions to the NBA (Mychal Thompson and Rick Fox).

Buddy, on the other hand, didn’t seem to care about anything. In fact, he realized his aspirations by playing in the NBA league just ten years later.

Amateur Career

With a buzzer-beater to win the Providence Holiday Tournament, Jack Hayward High School basketball player Hield showed early promise.

The Grand Bahamas High School Championships were another accomplishment he and his team accomplished. For his accomplishments, Hield was named an All Bahamian Brand All Bahamian Selection.

Following his accomplishments in The Bahamas, Hield received a scholarship offer from Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, a basketball prep school in a suburb of Wichita, Kansas.

The 6-foot-4 (1.93 m) guard was signed by Kyle Lindsted, a current Wichita State assistant and former Sunrise coach.

Hield led Sunrise Christian to the National Association of Christian Athletes national championship during his junior season, winning MVP honors in the process.

As a senior in 2011–2012, he scored 22.7 points on.491 shooting in 21.0 minutes per game. He attracted a lot of attention and decided to play for Oklahoma instead of Kansas.

Career in College

Hield averaged 7.8 points per game as a freshman at Oklahoma, earning the title of Most Inspirational Player.

After averaging 16.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game as a sophomore, he was awarded second-team All-Big 12.

He improved his defense and broadened his offensive repertoire before his junior year to become a high-volume three-point shooter.

Hield averaged 17.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 41 percent from the floor as a junior at Oklahoma. He led Oklahoma to a 24-11 record, good enough for a Sweet 16 spot.

He made the decision to stay for his final year despite being a likely NBA draft pick in 2015. Both the Big 12 First Team and the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year were awarded to him.

After being selected to the First Team All-Big 12 list, he was named the Big 12 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.

Professional Career

On June 23, 2016, the New Orleans Pelicans picked Hield with the sixth overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. On July 22, 2016, he committed to the Pelicans.

On December 15, 2016, Buddy played his greatest game as a Pelican, outscoring the Indiana Pacers 102-95 with 21 points and five three-pointers.

On January 3, 2017, he received the Western Conference Rookie of the Month award for December.

In his first game for the Kings, a 116-100 victory over the Denver Nuggets, he came off the bench to score 16 points. He received the Western Conference Rookie of the Month award in March.

Hield started the first seven games of the 2017–18 campaign as the team’s sixth player before switching to the bench.

On November 25, 2017, in a 97-95 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Hield had a season-high 27 points off the bench and a career-high seven 3-pointers.

On February 28, 2021, he hit 1,000 3-pointers, doing so more quickly than any other player in history (it took him just 350 games).

On February 8, 2022, Hield was dealt with the Indiana Pacers. In a 120-113 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 11, Hield made his Pacers debut, starting alongside Haliburton and registering a close to triple-double with 16 points, 8 assists, and 9 rebounds.

Development

Hield has put forth a lot of effort to become one of the NBA’s best three-point shooters.

He is a hard worker off the court and has demonstrated the capacity to play extended stints at small forward.

In his fifth NBA season, Hield averaged 10.2 3-point attempts per game, setting a new career-high. Only Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard had more shots in the league than those three.

When he is simply patrolling the perimeter in search of catch-and-shoot opportunities, he shoots 39.6 percent.

Buddy shoots 38.7 percent when he dribbles only once, and 48.9 percent when he dribbles twice. Your percentages will drastically decline if you take more than two dribbles.

Hield has made it plain that he wants to be more than just De’Aaron Fox’s backup catch-and-shoot wing.

Hield’s Girlfriend: Who Is She?

Buddy Hield and his girlfriend, Remi Martinii, have been in a committed relationship for many years.

According to her Instagram name, Remi is a fitness enthusiast and a recent law school graduate. She also seems to have a considerable fan following on the social media site.

She also has a YouTube account with the same name where she often uploads vlogs detailing her daily activities.

Buddy and his fiancée haven’t discussed their early dating experiences, but there’s no disputing that they’ve developed their connection further.

After all, their lovely love child is living proof of it. Their lovely daughter Rainer Hield was born on November 8, 2017.

Remi looks to be the father of his daughter, at least based on his partner’s Instagram. Buddy finds time for his family despite having a busy schedule.

The NBA player was pictured with his gorgeous infant daughter in November 2018 following his game versus Los Angeles.

Basketball Enthusiasm

Hield had such a passion for the game that he regularly paid (or persuaded) his siblings to complete his weekly chores so he could spend more time playing hoops.

He routinely woke up 30 minutes before sunrise to take over the remote control and watch highlights of the NBA games from the previous night because there was only one TV in the house.

On other mornings, Hield would leave his residence for the park at seven o’clock.

Hield would drag buddies out of bed while carrying a water bottle and a ball, then spend the entire afternoon rehearsing the footwork and movements he had seen on TV from players like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Hield realized he needed help despite his best efforts to do it alone. He wanted to be taught the fundamentals of basketball by eminent instructors who would demand the best of him.

In the Bahamas, where youth league games were more analogous to pickup games, that degree of coaching did not exist.

To help Buddy settle into his new home, Jackie and Richard later traveled to Wichita in August. At the time, Richard was the head coach at Sunrise Christian Academy.

Lifestyle

Buddy enjoys an opulent existence. He eats Chinese food every other day because he likes it. His two favorite eateries are Punch Bowl Social and Frank’s Fat.

He exercises his dribbling, shooting, passing, and strength even though his game is substantial physical activity in and of itself.

Before and after his workout, he also jogs and performs some simple stretches. He consumes a lot of foods high in protein because he loves them so much.

Buddy, on the other hand, is a style icon who prefers Versace and Gucci. His Gucci clothing costs $600, while his Versace t-shirts cost more than $180.

Additionally, the Sacramento Kings jersey he wore may be purchased for about $109.99. Buddy, on the other hand, has visited numerous countries.

He has visited Texas’ Dallas. Buddy flies to the Bahamas to unwind on the beach and explore in his spare time after visiting Milan, Italy, popularly known as the center of fashion.

In addition, Hield takes weekend getaways or time off to visit New York, Charlotte, North Carolina, and other cities across the nation.

Height, Weight, & Age

Buddy Hield is 29 years old. Hield is in terrific shape to establish himself as a top shooting guard thanks to his 6 feet 5 inches physique and 6’9″ wingspan.

He has the physicality to be a strong defender both on and off the ball.

He also has a 100 kg weight. He consumes salads, poultry, fish, and turkey as part of his diet.

His breakfast is similarly big and contains a lot of both proteins and carbohydrates.

After hefty meals and workouts, Buddy also enjoys taking two naps each day.

Hield also favors eating two substantial meals each day as opposed to multiple smaller ones throughout the day.

In addition, Buddy includes Protein Shake in his diet and drinks tons of water each day to stay hydrated.
