Brooke Shields Met Husband Chris Henchy Thanks to Her Bulldog

Call it fate or divine intervention, but Brooke Shields and her husband, Chris Henchy, met through their American bulldog, Darla, rather than through their friends or family. The puppy escaped from the Warner Bros. lot where the actress was filming.

Susan appeared unexpectedly. Her husband, who was also on set, located her pet and returned it to her.

The two hit it off right away, and their friendship grew stronger when Shields hosted a program in Washington, D.C. that Henchy had written.

Shields was charmed by the writer’s thoughtfulness and wit, but he pursued nothing because the actress had recently divorced.

They began dating because she could no longer deny that there was anything between them.

Shields with Her Partner Had a Surprise Wedding

Shields and her husband dated for two years until the latter proposed in Mexico in July 2020 with an antique cushion-cut diamond ring.

And, less than a year later, the pair married in a lovely ceremony.

Initially, it was stated that the couple married in April 2001 on the beach of Catalina Island,

surrounded by a small group of friends and relatives.

“The wedding was an amazing and tasteful ceremony,” a source told the New York Post,

adding that no one knew what the couple had planned for their honeymoon.

However, Hollywood gossip journalist Liz Smith confirmed to ABC Report that the news about their April wedding on Catalina Island was untrue.

The fabricated information was part of the couple’s ploy to fool the paparazzi and Shields’ long-time stalker.

A month later, the pair married in a Roman Catholic ceremony at a luxury Palm Beach house, according to Smith.

The couple planned to establish a family after their wedding, but it was easier said than done.

Shields’ Pregnancy Struggles Ended Happily

Shields was unable to conceive because her cervix had been damaged during a procedure to remove precancerous cells.

So the couple tried artificial insemination, but it didn’t work.

Despite this, they remained supportive of one another throughout the process and progressed to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.

Fortunately for the pair, it worked, and the Blue Lagoon actress gave birth to their daughter, Rowan Francis Henchy, on May 15, 2003.

Shields’ middle name, Francis, was selected in memory of her father, who died three weeks before her birth from prostate cancer.

Grier Hammond Henchy, the couple’s second daughter, was born three years later, on April 18, 2006, in Los Angeles.

Grier, unlike her first daughter, was conceived naturally, which surprised everyone.

“No. I did not use IVF.

I went in for IVF and discovered I was already pregnant. Our jaws all dropped “Shields explained to People.

Shields was happy that her girls would have each other while she and Henchy weren’t around, according to the publication.
