The death of Robbie Coltrane shocked English actress Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter film series. Coltrane’s character as Rubeus Hagrid was one of her favorite characters in the Harry Potter film series, and she worked alongside him.

Following the announcement of the Cracker actor’s death on October 14, 2022, Wright took to Instagram to pay tribute to her co-star.

She posted a photo of Coltrane to Instagram with a tribute to him in the caption. “Heartbroken by Robbie Coltrane’s passing,” she wrote. “My favorite character was Hagrid!”

Wright went on to say that Coltrane always treated her and the other cast members as adults on set when they were young.

“Sending love to your family,” she concluded her note. React Peacefully.”

Coltrane, who played Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, died at the age of 72 after suffering from a long illness.

He appeared in the ITV detective drama Cracker as well as the James Bond films Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough.

According to his agent Belinda Wright, the actor died in the Forth Valley Royal Hospital near Falkirk, Scotland. The cause of death, however, has yet to be revealed.

His agent called him a “unique talent,” and his portrayal of Hagrid had delighted children and adults alike all over the world.

J.K. Rowling, the renowned British author of numerous novels, including the best-selling Harry Potter, paid tribute to Coltrane.

After learning of Coltrane’s death, the author wrote a tribute to the actor on Twitter.

She posted a photo of them together along with a heartfelt message.

Rowling described Coltrane as a “complete one-off” and an “incredible talent” in a tweet.

“He was an incredible talent, a complete one-of-a-kind, and I was beyond fortunate to know him, work with him, and laugh my head off with him,” she wrote.

Many famous people, as well as fans all over the world, mourned the actor’s death.

“Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on that set,” Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe said.

Emma Watson, another Harry Potter star, stated on her Instagram story that Coltrane was deeply caring and compassionate to her as a child and an adult.

“There was no better Hagrid,” she wrote. You made it a pleasure to be Hermoine.”
