Bismack Biyombo

Who is Bismack Biyombo?

A young boy who grew up playing basketball in the Democratic Republic of the Congo but lacked even one pair of sneakers. In addition, due to his parents’ great poverty, the boy would go days without eating.

To become the NBA sensation that Biyombo is now, the 30-year-old had to overcome several obstacles in his early years.

To highlight, the 6’8″ centers agreed to a four-year, $72 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets in 2016.

Furthermore, the Hornets center is a social worker who assists disadvantaged young Congolese children so that they do not encounter the same hardships that Bismack did.

Biyombo, on the other hand, did not become a celebrity who earns $17 million per year in only one day.

Instead, the Congolese native faced numerous challenges during his childhood and NBA career.

As a result, I’ve produced this post to motivate my readers. We hope you can take something from Bismarck’s life and apply it to your own to make your life a little easier.

Bismack Biyombo’s Career and Statistics

Unlike most NBA players, Biyombo began his professional career with CB Illescas in the Spanish ACB League and played with the club for two years.

Following strong performances for the team, Bismack opted to relocate to Fuenlabrada, where he would be seen by NBA scouts.

Biyombo appeared at the 2011 Nike Hoops Summit

As a result, the Congolese were asked to compete in the 2011 Nike Hoops Summit, a competition in which elite high school seniors from the United States compete against top international youths.

Others might have been content with just being called up, but not Biyombo.

In a showcase of his raw skill, the future Hornets center achieved a triple-double with 10 blocks, 11 rebounds, and 12 points against now-LA Lakers All-Star Anthony Davis.

As a result, NBA general managers and scouts who attended the game were blown away.

“It provided me an opportunity to promote myself to the NBA world and see if I may get drafted in the next year or two,” Bismack said after the game.

Biyombo’s goal came true in the 2011 NBA Draft when the Sacramento Kings selected him seventh overall before dealing his rights to the Charlotte Bobcats (now Charlotte Hornets).

Biyombo previously did not have enough money to purchase a pair of shoes when he was a boy in Congo.

Shoes, on the other hand, were no longer an issue for Bismack, who made $2.7 million in his debut year with the Charlotte-based organization.

NBA Draft 2011, Biyombo

Biyombo began the day with the Sacramento Kings and finished it with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Because he was a lottery pick, the Congolese had great expectations following the draft.

Unfortunately, the Bobcat’s center never lived up to his potential, failing to average double figures in points, rebounds, and blocks.

To demonstrate, Bismarck’s best season came in the 2012-13 season, when he averaged 4.8 points, 1.8 blocks, and 7.3 rebounds.

It was well below the expectations placed on him at the start of his NBA career.

As a result, the Charlotte-based team declined to extend Biyombo’s contract by one year for the 2015-16 season, making him a free agent.

Biyombo stated after being released by the Charlotte Bobcats, “In Charlotte, first you get the opportunity.”

But you’re under a lot of pressure. I didn’t get the chance to do what I needed to,”

Soon later, the Toronto Raptors agreed to a two-year, $6 million contract with a player option for the second year.

The 6 foot 8 center was a force in the franchise’s march to the Eastern Conference Finals, a shot-blocking and rebounding power with postseason averages of 6.2 points, 1.4 blocks, and 9.4 rebounds.

NBA Conference Finals in 2016

During the Conference Finals, Biyombo blocks LeBron’s layup.

As a result, he withdrew his player option for the 2016-17 season because he was not the Raptors’ starting center.

Despite the fact that his time with the Raptors was restricted to only one season, Biyombo noted that he treasured the experience of reaching the Conference Finals as well as the city of Toronto.

Many organizations were interested in Biyombo after he recently shined with the Raptors, but the Orlando Magic ultimately secured his services.

Similarly, Bismack agreed to terms with the Hornets on the most lucrative contract of his career.

The Congo native signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the Charlotte-based team.

Following that, the 6’8″ center stayed with the team for two years, averaging 5.8 points, 1.1 blocks, and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Despite not putting up eye-popping stats, Biyombo was a leader in the locker room, assisting rookie players in settling in and developing.

Bismarck’s tenure with the Orlando-based franchise was cut short when he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets, with whom he began his NBA career.

As a result, the 6’9″ centers averaged 4.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks per game, which was disappointing for such a skilled player as Biyombo.

On the contrary, the Congo native was injured for the majority of the season, appearing only 54 times for the Hornets.

Biyombo has remained injury-free in 52 games for the organization owned by the potentially greatest player in NBA history, Michael Jordan.

Similarly, Bismack, a 6 foot 8 center, has increased his average from the previous season, averaging a career-high 7.5 points, 0.9 blocks, and 5.9 rebounds per game.

After Magic, the basketball player signed a three-year contract with the Charlotte Hornets.

With 18 games remaining, the Charlotte Hornets are currently ranked 10th in the Eastern Conference standings.

Furthermore, the franchise sits six games behind Biyombo’s former team, the Orlando Magic, which currently holds the final playoff berth.

Bismack Biyombo’s Age, Height, and Body Dimensions

The Hornets center is currently 30 years old, which is relatively young for a player who has been in the NBA for nine years.

On the contrary, based on his gameplay and lifestyle, Bismack appears to be much older than his age.

The Congolese center is 6 feet 8 inches tall, which makes him tiny in comparison to other centers in the league.

Bismarck’s diminutive stature, on the other hand, allows him to get off the ground swiftly and retrieve rebounds.

Because of his mobility, the Hornets center can rapidly transition from the forwards to protect the defenders.

To summarize, Biyombo is one of the top squad players who can fill in for the starting center anytime necessary.

As a result, whoever contracts Bismack after he hits free agency this summer will be getting one of the NBA’s finest substitute centers.

Bismack Biyombo | Contract & Net Worth

Due to his NBA longevity, Biyombo is worth a whopping $30 million at the time of writing.

To explain, the Congolese is currently in his ninth season and third franchise, having previously played for the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, and Charlotte Hornets.

Furthermore, until the 2016-17 season, the Hornets player had earned an average of $2.5 million.

In fact, Bismack earned $2.2 million in his rookie season in the NBA.

However, before the 2016-17 season, Biyombo signed a new four-year contract with the Orlando Magic worth $72 million, including a yearly salary of $17 million.

Bismack has made roughly $83 million in the NBA over the course of his nine seasons, which is impressive given that the Congo native has spent the majority of his career as a backup center.

Biyombo, on the other hand, is a more than capable backup to any elite center in the NBA right now thanks to his work ethic and never-say-die attitude.

As of now, the 30-year-old is in the final year of his $72 million contract, but I have no doubt that many NBA organizations will want Bismack’s services.

Whether the Hornets or another team signs the center, they can be confident that they will have an exceptional player on their squad.

Bismack Biyombo’s Wife and Children

Biyombo was born in the Congolese town of Lubumbashi to Francois Biyombo and Francoise Ninoy.

Furthermore, the 30-year-old has six siblings to keep an eye on.

Biyombo with his father, Bikelene Biyombo, and his sister, Bimela Biyombo.

Bismack is also a family man who prefers to spend his time with his loved ones.

To emphasize, the Congo native assisted all six of his siblings in pursuing higher education in the United States in order to obtain a quality education.

Despite the fact that the Congolese are not married at the moment, he was in a relationship.

Bismack was also said to be in a relationship with Colombian-Brazilian beauty Ana Ledesma, who is also a cancer survivor.

To illustrate, Ledesma was spotted on the 30-year-social old’s media profiles at one point.

Unfortunately, it appears that the two are no longer together because Biyombo erased all of the couple’s images from their time together.

There has been no further information on the basketball player’s personal ties since then.

The Hornets center appears to have learned from his past mistakes and now keeps his personal life private.
