Early Career

Bethe practiced numerous combat styles, including Jiu-Jitsu, Sanda, and amateur wrestling before her career as a UFC fighter took off.

After training in many different techniques, she eventually came to prefer striking, especially boxing.

In her home in Brazil in May 2012, Correia competed in her first professional mixed martial arts match, defeating Daniela Maria da Silva by unanimous decision at the First Fight-Revelations event.

Bethe won her first six fights in a span of 13 months while receiving training from the “Pitbull” brothers, Patricky and Patrickio Freire.

Career in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)

In October 2013, Bethe agreed to a number of fights with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Correia made her promotional debut in December of that year when she competed against Julie Kedzie, one of the MMA experts, at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Bigfoot.

Miesha Tate and Sarah Kaufman, two former Strikeforce bantamweight champions, challenged Correia following her third straight victory in the UFC.

She first stated that she was interested in confronting Kaufman, but she later acknowledged that her main focus was on Ronda Rousey, the former UFC bantamweight champion.

Bethe started competing for a chance to challenge Ronda Rousey for the title after defeating Jessamyn Duke of the “Four Horsewomen” stable.
