Bad Bunny is chastised for QueerBaiting during the VMAs kiss.
The MTV Video Music Awards winner is being chastised for
QueerBaiting during his performance of ‘Titi Me Pregunto’ (VMA).
He not only kissed his girl dancer, but he also kissed his male dancer passionately while singing ‘Titi Me Pregunto.’
Fans have dubbed him QueerBaiting because they believe
he is simply pretending to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community when he is not.
Bunny routinely condemns homophobia in the music industry and incorporates
queer persons in his song videos. In his 2019 music video,
‘Caro,’ he was also shown kissing a male, which prompted many fans to believe he was bisexual or gay.
Furthermore, on March 28, 2020, Bunny released ‘Yo Perreo Sola,’
generally translated as ‘I Twerk Alone,’ in which he donned a
complete drag makeover and performed a sensual dance routine that may have enraged homophobic people.
Ryan and Taylor debate if the video is QueerBaiting, an example of LGBTQ+ culture being replicated,
or if Bunny is leading the way for broader acceptance of queer people in an edition of the Only Stans podcast.
Ryan described how people are more likely to embrace queer aesthetics from a straight guy than from queer people.
Taylor concurred, adding that she finds it aggravating that all straight
males take LGBT culture because it’s trendy and get credit for it, but those who practiced it first don’t.

However, Bunny is straight as he declared,
“at the time I am heterosexual and I prefer woman” in an interview with Los Angeles Times.
However, he also stated that his sexuality does not define him
and that he may become interested in a man in 20 years.
Despite his straight identity, Bunny has been an excellent ally to the LGBTQ+ community,
whether involving queers in his films or celebrating a Puerto Rican trans lady on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
During his ‘Ignorantes’ performance, he wore a shirt that read,
“Mataron an Alexa, no a un hombre with falda,” which translates to, “They killed Alexa, not a man in a skirt.”
According to Pride, Alexa was a black trans lady who was harassed by a bunch of males, haunted and slain.
The shirt was a response to Puerto Rican media,
which described Alexa as “a man clothed in a black skirt” who had been murdered.
Fans reacted negatively to Bad Bunny’s kiss with his backup dancers.
Many fans were taken aback when they saw the ‘I Like It’ singer kissing his dancers.
He kissed both a lady and a man while his girlfriend looked on.
“OMG GIRL, BAD BUNNY KISSED A MAN DURING HIS PERFORMANCE,”
one of his female admirers tweeted, while another added, “I think he is bi.”
The third Twitter user said, “He has to stop queerbaiting,” followed by “queerbaiter.”
