NBA Draft, 1997

Austin declared for the 1997 NBA draft after finishing his college career. Tim Duncan, a former USA teammate, was drafted first overall by the Spurs. Croshere was later selected as the 13th overall pick in the lottery.

Croshere made his NBA debut against the Milwaukee Bucks on November 20, 1997, however, he failed to score a point.

In terms of scoring and rebounds, the 1999-00 season was the greatest. He played 81 games during that season, averaging 10.3 points and 6.4 assists.

In a 111-102 victory over the Houston Rockets on March 17, 2000, the American athlete recorded a season-high 22 points and 13 rebounds.

The Road to the NBA Finals

For the first time in their existence, the Indian Pacers, led by Reggie Miller, reached the NBA finals in 1999-2000.

Croshere became a key member of the club in the finals, averaging 15.2 points and 6.0 rebounds.

He also set a playoff record with 24 points in the second game of the series. However, they were defeated 4-2 in the series by the Lakers, who were led by Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

Croshere was later given a new contract as a result of his performance in the finals.

However, he only appeared in 49 games during the 2002-03 season. Croshere was also benched for a rotation duty that season, averaging a career-low 12.9 minutes.

Finals of the Eastern Conference

Croshere resurfaced as a key player of the squad after the hiring of defensive-minded coach Rick Carlisle for the upcoming season.

On July 5, 2006, the New Team Pacers transferred Croshere to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Marquis Daniels.

Croshere set a career-best with 34 points in a 122-102 win over the Seattle SuperSonics on January 30, 2007.

During his one season with Dallas, he averaged 3.7 points per game and 2.4 assists per game in 61 games.

Croshere later signed a contract with Golden States Warrior on August 3, 2007. He didn’t appear in the playoffs after joining the Warriors in 1999. Croshere averaged 3.9 points and 2.4 assists per game with the Warriors.
