Annie Laurie Gaylor is an American author, feminist activist, atheist, and secularist. Annie Laurie Gaylor and her husband, Dan Barker, co-founded the Freedom From Religion Foundation, which she is now co-presidents. In 1978, Annie, her mother Anne Nicol Gaylor, and the late John Sontarck met around the Gaylors’ dining room table to form EERF.

Nicol also wrote Abortion Is a Blessing and edited The World Famous Atheist Cookbook. The American Humanist Association honored her with the Humanist Heroine Award in 1985.
In 2007, she received the Tiller Award from NARAL Pro-Choice America. Nicol died on June 14, 2015, at the age of 88, in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.
Annie’s father died in 2011 from brain cancer.
