Career in College
Despite the fact that Dawkins arrived at Duke a year ahead of schedule with high hopes, his dreams were quickly dashed. Lacey Dawkins, his younger sister, was killed in a vehicle accident shortly after he began his freshman college season.
Lacey and their mother, Tammy, were on their way to Durham from Ohio to watch him play when the event occurred. His mother, on the other hand, was hurt and later healed.

He returned to the Heat after a brief spell with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, where he appeared in only four games.
In early 2015, the club decided he was no longer useful and waived him. He never returned to the NBA during the regular season after that.
Andre had some time with the Boston Celtics on multiple short-term contracts, notably with their D-League affiliate team, the Maine Red Claws (now Maine Celtics).
