Training Protocol

Marcie used to arrive home in time for Trier training sessions after working early shifts. Marcie used to get the rebound and count Trier’s shots.

Trier took 500 shots per day at the gym, starting from close range and working his way up to the 3-point line.

Trier will take away one point from the total if she misses two consecutive shots during practice. Marcie would then take Trier to a local gym in her car.

For an hour, Trier worked out with the neighborhood high school, engaging in vigorous one-on-one basketball, shooting, and ball handling drills.

These sessions were once a week for Trier. Later, they would travel for around two hours with other A.A.U. Teams to the downtown Seattle team.

AAU Game

In the A.A.U. game, Allonzo was shooting free throws, but in August 2012, Trier asked to transfer to NOAH, another Tusla-based home school.

The National Christian Home School Championship Eligibility Advisory Board, however, rejected Allonzo’s move.

They noted that Trier must reside with his parents or a nearby guardian in order to attend home school, and they voted 23–4 in favor of it.

But suddenly, his mother relocated to Tusla in order to give her kid a chance. Trier then began attending Cornerstone Tutorial Center’s lessons.

Before Christmas that same year, O.T. defeated Bartlesville thanks in large part to 64 points by Alonzo.

After turning six, Trier’s mother returned to Oklahoma City, and she began looking for a new high school.

In his junior and senior years, Trier made the decision to enroll at Montrose Christian, a school that has produced NBA players such as Greivis Vasquez and 2014 NBA MVP Kevin Durant.

Trier improved his game under Bryan Bartley, averaging 24.6 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 2.8 APG.

In a similar vein, Allonzo led Montrose to a 20-5 overall record and the Division I Christian Schools Athletic Association championship.

Additionally, Allonzo was selected as the 2014 Gatorade State Player of the Year for Maryland.

Trier was instructed to cut his dreadlocks after Trier’s mother complained about how the school handled his academic schedule and participation on the team.

Every top A.A.U. team in each district wanted to sign him for the summer Nike Elite Youth Basketball League during his senior year.

Additionally, word got out that Trier was looking to add a new high school team. Allonzo made the choice to represent Trier’s initial A.A.U. Team, his Athletes First, in the league.

Trier made the decision to move to Findlay Prep for his final year in June. Trier recorded 26.6 PPG and 5.4 RPG in his final season at Findlay.

2015 MC Donald All-American Trier was chosen as a prominent player in the 2015 MC Donald All-American game.

The athlete was a member of the West squad, which also included current NBA players Brandon Ingram and PJ Dozier.

In the game, Trier scored a game-high 17 points, but they fell short against West, which was led by Cheick Diallo’s 18 points.

Jordan Brand Classic 2015

Trier and his mother made the decision to join the Arizona Wildcats after visiting the state on business.

First Year of College

In a victory over Chico State in an exhibition game, Allonzo made his collegiate debut for the Arizona Wildcats. He made his debut with 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

In an 85-72 victory over Fresno State on December 10, 2015, Trier scored a season-high 27 points.

In a 101-103 loss to USC during the Pac-12 regular season on January 9, 2016, Trier injured his shooting hand while scoring 25 points.

Prior to his comeback on February 6, 2016, against Washington, Trier missed nearly a month of action. Trier contributed 7 points after making a comeback to help his side win 77-72.

Additionally, Allonzo played his final game as a freshman in the NCAA tournament and scored 10 points. Allonzo averaged 14.8 PPG for the Arizona Wildcats during his first season.

Going Back to Basketball

Trier made his first debut against UCLA on January 21, 2017, following 19 games.

In his comeback, he contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists to Arizona’s 96-85 victory over UCLA.

With 17.2 PPG, Trier had a standout sophomore season as the team’s leading scorer. Additionally, he was the most outstanding player and won the Pac-12 Tournament in 2016–17.

He played 35 minutes in the final, defeating USC 75-61 with nine points and four rebounds.

Trier made the decision to forgo his senior year of college and declare for the 2018 NBA Draft following Arizona’s defeat to the Buffalo Bulls in the NCAA Men’s tournament’s sweet-16 (2018).

NBA Career

Freshman Season

Trier later signed a two-way contract with the New York Knicks, though. Then he participated in the Knicks’ 2018 Summer League game in Las Vegas.

As an undrafted rookie, Trier made a great statement by averaging 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists over three games in Las Vegas.

Trier’s Knicks career got off to a fast start. He made his NBA debut on October 17, 2018, scoring 15 points, grabbing four rebounds, and blocking two shots in a 126-107 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.
