When Zendaya was cast as MJ Watson and Holland was cast as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in Marvel and Sony’s combined partnership in establishing the superhero in the MCU, beginning with Spider-Man: Homecoming, the duo became friends and co-stars.
Following the 2017 film, there have been two additional Spider-Man sequels, both starring Holland and Zendaya.
Zendaya and Holland grew close and eventually began dating as they continued to work together.
Talks of the two being in a relationship began in 2019, but nothing was proven at the time.
Later, in July 2021, paparazzi caught the two kissing inside a car, amid the excitement surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The smooch proved that they were a couple.
Holland discussed his relationship with Zendaya for the first time in an interview with GQ Magazine in November 2021.
He stated, referring to photos of him and Zendaya kissing,
“One of the drawbacks of our popularity is that we no longer have control over our privacy, and a moment that you think is between two people who love each other very much is suddenly shared with the entire world.”
“I’ve always been pretty adamant about keeping my private life private since I share so much of my life with the world anyhow,” he continued.
We felt as if our privacy had been violated.
I don’t believe it was a lack of preparation; rather, we didn’t want to [discuss it].”
Zendaya and Holland may value their privacy, but they can’t deny that they look adorable together.

Their First Exchange of Posts (July 2016)
On July 11, 2016, Holland shared a photo of herself swimming with Zendaya and another woman.
It was the first time he had shared a photo of himself with his now-girlfriend.
“Summer Sundays,” he said in the caption.
On July 24, 13 days later, Zendaya uploaded a photo with Holland and their Spider-Man co-stars.
The shot was taken exclusively for Entertainment Weekly during their interview.
A day later, Holland shared an identical image.
The Very First Exclusive Interview (November 2016)
On November 9, 2016, the actor shared an exclusive cover image from his and Zendaya’s interview with The Hollywood Reporter during the Spider-Man: Homecoming press tour on his Instagram account.
It was their first time doing an exclusive interview together.
“I’m so grateful I got to enjoy it with the one and only @zendaya,” he said in one section of the description.
Zendaya had also posted the cover photo alongside another photo of them dressed in a 90s manner.
On November 23, they both shared a video from their visit to New York-Presbyterian Hospital with their Spider-Man co-star, Jacob Batalon.
Holland delighted special children while dressed as Spider-Man.
Press Conference for Spider-Man: Homecoming (June-July 2017)
As Spider-Man: Homecoming, featuring Holland, Zendaya, and others, was about to be released on July 7, 2017, all of the stars were required to participate in many press junkets and promotional films.
Zendaya and Holland later shared some of those experiences as well. For example, on Holland’s birthday, June 1, 2017, Zendaya posted a humorous clip from one of their press junkets or promotional videos.
Furthermore, the actress had shared other photos from various film-related occasions, including herself and Holland.
Birthday Message (September 2017)
On Zendaya’s birthday, September 1, 2017, the actor posted a handful of photos to his Instagram account.
They were dressed as their Spider-Man movie characters, Peter Parker and MJ Watson, in the photos.
He made a height discrepancy joke in the post, as Zendaya is around 2 inches taller than Holland.
“I’m considering how to get taller. “Happy birthday, mate,” he wrote.
The monarch (May 2018)
After the Spider-Man craze died down, both Holland and Zendaya stopped posting photos together.
However, on May 8, 2018, the actor shared a photo of Zendaya from her Met Gala Red Carpet appearance.
“All hail the queen,” he said in the post. “You’re killing it, mate.”
Spider-pals Man’s (September 2018)
On September 27, 2018, Holland uploaded a photo with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon when they were in Venice for the filming of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Visit Disneyland (May 2019)
On May 9, 2019, Holland shared a photo of himself at Disneyland with Zendaya and Batalon.
In the caption, he made an inside joke, writing, “Thanks @zendaya for making me aware of my blatant goof.”
The next day, Zendaya tweeted photos from their visit on Jimmy Kimmel Live with their co-stars.
Again, Press Junket (June-July 2019)
As Spider-Man: Far From Home’s release date approached, all of the cast members, including Zendaya and Holland, were highly committed to the press junket to promote the film.
In his spare time, Holland would post photos from his junket to his Instagram account.
Title Fraud (February 2021)
Zendaya and Holland took to their respective Instagram accounts on February 24, 2021, to release two exclusive images from the third Spider-Man film.
They also added another image that contained the title of the film.

On the same day, Holland posted a brief video of himself with Zendaya and Batalon.
By the end of the trailer, the title Spider-Man: No Way Home was revealed.
Finally, the trailer (August 2021)
The teaser trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, starring Holland, Zendaya, Batalon, and others, was ultimately published on August 24, 2021, after much hype, drama, and leaks.
Holland and Zendaya both shared the teaser clip on their own Instagram accounts.
My MJ (September 2021) (September 2021)
Everyone was aware that Zendaya and Holland were a thing at this point. Holland made their relationship public on Instagram on Zendaya’s 25th birthday.
On September 1, he shared a photo with his girlfriend.
Zendaya took the photo in a dressing room while Holland was still dressed as Spider-Man.
“My MJ, enjoy the happiest of birthdays,” he said in the post.

On December 16, 2021, Zendaya returned Holland’s favor by paying a sweet tribute to her lover and his Spider-Man character.
She had uploaded two photos of Holland in a Spider-Man suit, one shot recently and the other when he was a toddler.
“My Spider-Man, I’m so proud of you, certain things never change, and good things,” she captioned.
