Early Career
On the recommendation of his agent, whose Lithuanian wife’s brother knew a member of the coaching staff there, Adebayo joined the Lithuanian club FK Atlantas as a teenager.
Akinfenwa won the 2001 Lithuanian Football Cup final while playing for the team, and he faced competition in the UEFA Cup qualifying rounds for two years in a row.

Before returning to the UK at the beginning of 2003, Adebayo spent two years on the team. He then joined Welsh Premier League champions Barry Town.
During his tenure at Jenner Park, Adebayo supported Barry in his work for the Welsh Cup and Welsh Premier League.
However, the club experienced a financial calamity and fired its talented playing team just a few events into his tenure.
Adebayo joined Boston United in October 2003 and beat Swindon Town in his first season there with a last-second victory.

City of Swansea
In July 2005, Adebayo visited Swansea City and was able to pay an £85,000 amount as compensation.
Tranmere Rovers was the team he expected to make his debut against, and this was the first audacious goal scored at Swansea’s brand-new Liberty Stadium.

He played regularly the next season up to the 2-0 home loss to Scunthorpe United when a fractured right leg ended his tenure. This led to a left leg break in the following month.
Millwall
Later, on June 29, 2007, he agreed to sign with Swindon Town after rejecting a new contract offer from Swansea. However, he did not respond to treatment.
After receiving treatment and practicing at Gillingham in November 2007, he signed a month-to-month contract with League One outfit Millwall. He failed to score any goals in seven attempts, though.
Town of Northampton
On January 18, 2008, Adebayo signed a contract with Northampton Town through the 2007–08 season.
In his first season, he played next to Swindon Town, where he came off the bench to score the game’s tying goal in overtime.
Then, in his home debut, Adebayo made a similar impression by scoring the equalizer in a 1-1 tie with Leeds United.
And later started the following game, at home against Gillingham, and scored twice in a 4-0 triumph. During that time, he scored three more goals.
On May 30, 2008, Adebayo renewed his one-year deal with Northampton amid interest from Leyton Orient and Grimsby Town.
He had a strong start to the 2008–09 campaign, scoring twice in his first three games towards the end of the month.
In May 2010, Adebayo concluded his trip to Northampton. He offered a revised contract, but Northampton was unable to reach an agreement with him in a reasonable amount of time.
Gillingham
On July 29, 2010, he signed a one-year contract with Gillingham and scored his first goal with a header against Cheltenham Town.
After the 2010–2011 term, Akinfenwa received a new contract from Gillingham, but in May he made the decision to return to Sixfields in favor of the new Cobblers manager.
He was admitted by Gary Johnson to “capture the fans’ vision.” In August, he declared his initial plan to play with Bristol Rovers.
On November 10, 2012, Akinfenwa scored his first and only hat-trick as a professional against Accrington Stanley.

Back in Gillingham

Wimbledon AFC
In 2015, Adebayo was a member of the AFC Wimbledon team.
On June 20, 2014, AFC Wimbledon of League Two, who had been looking to sign him for 14 months, received confirmation of his signing.
At Kingsmeadow on January 5, 2015, AFC Wimbledon played host to Liverpool following the next round of the FA Cup. Adebayo sat next to the team he supports once more, despite the defeat (1-2).

Wolves of Wycombe
Adebayo Akinfenwa signed a one-year contract with Wycombe Wanderers after leaving AFC Wimbledon. In April 2018, he was selected as the EFL League Two Player of the Season winner.
