Melo is acting like an ex-boyfriend attempting to reconcile

Carmelo Anthony is reportedly interested in returning to Denver, according to rumors. The issue is that true NBA fans don’t need a notification to know Melo would jump ship for Denver in an instant. He’s almost shouted that idea since the Knicks’ days ended.

The Repercussions

Nuggets fans were booing as a result of the numerous headlines they had seen.

These include refusing to return to the game in the fourth quarter after your veteran teammates chastised you for selfish shot selection.

Or being charged with pot possession, fighting randoms in nightclubs, suspensions, DUIs, or a slew of other offenses.

When you combine this with coach George Karl, a well-known hardass disciplinarian, things were certain to boil over.

Karl was the epitome of someone who could be so right and yet so wrong. Take, for example, this sarcastic remark.

“Carmelo is a nice child. He is an excellent basketball player. But the everyday consistency, professionalism, and devotion… It isn’t him.”

Perhaps not the most flattering thing to say about your franchise player. And, so to be clear, there are many more quotes like this one.

There were many other reasons Melo looked elsewhere, such as injuries, poor front office decisions, and, ironically, Karl’s decision to retire from the game to fight cancer – but this toxic relationship was the front runner.

I also brought it up to provide context for Melo’s apparent desire to return to the Mile High Stadium.

The ring-hunting continues

Carmelo had seen his friends couple up in Miami and realized that just Chauncey wasn’t going to cut it.

Denver was disintegrating while Anthony was increasing his brand in the New York market, setting MSG records, and living with his Hollywood wife.

After he left, they enjoyed three first-round byes, followed by five no-shows in what was a ‘Danilo Gallinari-led’ reconstruction.

It’s no surprise they had the lowest attendance in 2016 and 2017.

Since ESPN began collecting data in 2000, no club has ever finished dead bottom in attendance in consecutive years.

But that is no longer the case since Carmelo has squat and Denver has Jokic.

So why did you let your ex-boyfriend back into the house after she left, since you’re the one who’s doing better?

Bring him back?

As I have stated, Carmelo has desired this since he understood it would not be an easy road to 30K points after entering Houston.

He’s even attempted to make amends for past transgressions.

“Contrary to popular belief, I had no desire to leave Denver. I never told anyone that. I had no desire to leave Denver.

But they backed me up against the wall. I don’t want to leave, but if you’re going to rebuild, it’s time for me to leave.”

Whether justified or not, he did depart, and Karl was a major cause for this.

The reason he’s brought up is that even the head coach who led the team to the Conference Finals is now seen negatively by most supporters in general.

We’ve discovered that understanding the Xs and Os isn’t enough to be a successful coach.

That, and Karl hasn’t stopped shooting at Melo.

This is an excerpt from his delightful novel, Furious George.

“But Kenyon and Carmelo bore two heavy burdens: all the money and no father to teach them how to act like men.”

As you can expect, that didn’t age well.

Despite being a productive scorer off the bench, Anthony may not be included in L.A.’s eventual overhaul.

And the ‘let me retire for my first team’ card may only be used once.

Reading those comments, it’s clear that the affection is still present.

We’ve seen Vince receive a standing ovation, and KG hug Ray – now let’s see Melo in a Denver jersey.
