Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee are perhaps the first names that come to mind when you think about martial arts legends. The pair are two of the most famous kung fu movie stars.

Lee began with an explosion in The Big Boss in 1971.
He became an international phenomenon as a result of the film.
He had a huge influence on the kung fu genre and revolutionized the way studios, filmmakers, and producers approached making martial arts films.
He instructed the filmmakers that if they wanted a blockbuster film, they required highly trained performers with martial arts backgrounds.
And because of Lee’s changes, folks like Chan now have the opportunity.
Initially working as a stunt double and fighting to make ends meet, Chan ascended through the ranks when the Kung Fu craze swept the film industry.
Lee helped him dominate the genre for the next three decades and become a world-renowned actor.
With ‘Fist of Fury,’ Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee cemented their friendship.
While Lee and Chan never worked together on a film, they had the opportunity to do so before Lee’s terrible death in 1973.
They met on the set of Lee’s second film, Fist of Fury.
Chan’s job as a stunt coordinator had taken a hit at the time.
To make a living, he worked as a stuntman again, eventually becoming Lee’s stunt double in Fist of Fury.
In a 1997 interview with Post journalist Richard James Havis, the actor opened extensively about working with Lee.
He stated that the late martial arts star had a significant influence on him.
He recognized Lee as the king of martial arts and appreciated his mannerisms and abilities.
The Rush Hour star also praised his hero, saying he was kind to everyone
“Because he [Lee] was born in the United States, he was more open than the rest of us.”
“Everyone liked him; he was extremely good to us, very good to the lower classes, and he didn’t really care about the big bosses,” Chan explained.

During the interview, he disclosed that the late actor would request that he work overtime with the stunt coordinator.

Jackie Chan recounted an incident in which Bruce Lee smacked him on the head while filming.
Lee would frequently inform the stunt coordinator that a stunt was unsafe merely to earn Chan more money.
“Bruce Lee helped me get more money.”
I earned $200 in one day. For me, it was double compensation.
He increased my pay by informing the stunt coordinator that it was a dangerous stunt — but it wasn’t.
“He was only trying to help me obtain a raise, which made me really thrilled,” Chan explained.
The two became so close while filming Rush Hour that the Rush Hour star teased him on site.
In a famous anecdote, Chan described how he feigned to be more upset than he was when Lee whacked him with a stick just because he appreciated Lee’s attention.
Following this interaction, Lee memorized Chan’s name, which led Lee to choose him for additional stunt work in entering the Dragon.
