Who is Nicol Turner?
Nicol Turner is an author, speaker, and activist. Nicol Turner is currently a Senior Fellow at The Brookings Institution’s Center for Technology Innovation. In 1989, Turner began as a Minority Intern at the Proctor and Gamble Minority Summer Internship Program.
From 1995 to 2003, she worked as a Consultant for United Airlines. Nicol was a former Chicago CTCNet Board Member at Community Technology Centers Network from 2002 to 2003.
She established Neighborhood Technology Resource Center in 2000 and worked there until 2008.
Nicol worked as a Vice President and Digital Inclusion at One Economy Corporation from September 2002 to August 2009. She was also the Board Chair of the Center for Economic Progress from 2002 to December 2011.
Nicol joined the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies in August 2009 as Vice President and Director of the Media and Technology Institute. She was employed there until April 2012.
She was the President and CEO of NAMIC in New York, NY, from April 2012 to August 2013.
From August 2013 to November 2016, Nicol was the Vice President and Chief Research and Policy Officer at the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council (MMTC) in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area.
Nicol has been a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies and the Director of The Brookings Institution’s Center for Technology Innovation since November 2016.
