The Fairy Tale Love Story of Steven Rinella and His Wife
Rinella had always thought that his spouse would be an outdoorsman because he had been one since he was a child.
When he began dating, he continued to hunt for the same type of companion, but nothing worked out.
His luck with women had been so dismal that he decided to retire to his remote Alaskan cabin and “order a bride from a fishing town in Siberia and call it a lifetime.”
But that’s when fate intervened.
When he sold his first book in 2006, he traveled to New York City to thank the editor of Miramax Books, a publishing business that assisted him with the publication.
Katie Finch, the company’s new director of publicity, had been brought along by the editor.
Rinella met his future bride for the first time at that event.
“While Katie claims to have had only one opinion about me—that I was too brusque for TV—I couldn’t take my eyes off her,” he added in his Glamour interview.
“She wasn’t my type, but she was fascinating.
Her cheekbones reminded me of Cate Blanchett, and she listened carefully to everything I said, like a CIA interrogator.
“I’d never met anyone like her before,” he said.
For the first year, Finch handled the majority of his business, and he kept everything professional with her.
But he had already fallen in love with her by the time he knew it.
“I only realized I was falling for Katie when I started attempting to talk myself out of it,” he explained.
Finally, he asked Finch out, and to his surprise, she said yes.
He purchased a plane ticket to Los Angeles, California, and spent four days with her traveling down the coast.
While everything they did at the moment seemed strange to Rinella, he soon recognized that he was having the time of his life.
“Being with her encouraged me to stop focusing solely on what I desired.
“It felt amazing like someone had opened the curtains and let in the light,” he told the site.
When he went home, he was astonished; his world had been turned upside down, and he had no idea what was going on.
But he knew one thing: he wanted more of what he’d just had, and he wanted Finch.
He even put a $100 bet on a friend that he would marry her.
They moved in together on their second date in New York.
The two had a great time exploring the city. Finch even introduced him to her parents.
Later, she visited his Alaskan lodge, mocked his greatest hunting stories, and kissed him farewell every time he walked into the woods.
“Katie wasn’t asking me to change; she was just asking me to broaden my idea of who I was,” Rinella explained.
And the best part is, if I did it for her, she would do it for me as well.”
When he was fully drunk, created a ridiculous argument, and made a big show of leaving the bar, Finch warned him he would not be allowed back if he ever walked out again.
This taught him a valuable lesson about Finch and relationships.
“Being with her would be difficult, but it would be worthwhile since she was willing to maintain the same vows she had asked me to make.”
The pair had formed a strong bond by that point, and Rinella felt it was time to take another step ahead.
On a March night in 2007, after he and Finch had just returned from a night out, he got down on one knee and proposed.
They got engaged after she said yes.
Sixteen months later, in July 2008, the two exchanged wedding vows in Fennville, Michigan, in front of their closest friends and family.
Rinella had received an envelope from an Alaskan acquaintance with whom he had put a $100 bet just a few days before the wedding.
A pristine $100 note was inside the package. “It was the best wager I ever placed,” he added.
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Seychelles after their wedding.
They had a lot of fun on the distant island paradise, going on bicycle rides, eating different types of food, and enjoying each other’s company.
They live contentedly in their own world, full of love and affection for one another.
And, while Rinella doesn’t reveal much about his wife due to his desire for solitude, there is no doubt that nothing has changed between the married couple.

Rinella and Finch, who are married, have three children: two sons named Jimmy and Matt, and a daughter named Ross.
Jimmy is the oldest of three sons, Matt is the middle child, and Ross is the youngest.
The only information available about the couple’s children is that their daughter was born on December 12, 2012, and one of their sons is ten years old.
