The One Day International, or ODI, is a type of limited-overs cricket. It is one of the highest standards of List A, limited-overs competition. It is also known as Limited Overs Internationals.
The game format was devised in the late twentieth century and is now one of the most popular cricket variants.
So, now we’ll look at the batters who currently have the highest ODI rankings.
Our list includes players from a variety of countries.

12. Fakhar Zaman
Fakhar Zaman, 32, of Pakistan is the first batsman on our list.
He now plays for the Pakistan national cricket team for the Lahore Qalandars of the Pakistan Super League.
Zaman was a sailor in the Pakistan Navy before commencing his cricket career.
Cricket, though, was his early obsession, and he represented the navy in the International Defence Cricket Challenge in Australia in 2012.
Zaman was crowned the tournament’s best player, and thus his cricket career began.
He left the navy the following year to pursue a career in cricket.
Zaman was the second-highest run-scorer in the 2016 Pakistan Cup.
In 2017, he made his One-Day International debut against South Africa.
Furthermore, in the final against India, he became Pakistan’s first batter to achieve a century in an ICC event final.
In the second ODI against South Africa in 2021, Zaman scored 193.
With this, he broke Shane Watson’s ODI record for the highest individual score when chasing, which was 185.

11. Joe Root
Joe Root is the number 11 top-order cricket batsman in ODIs.
He is a 31-year-old English cricketer and former England Test captain.
In English domestic cricket, he plays for the Yorkshire team.
Root made his debut for Yorkshire in domestic cricket in 2007.
In 2012, he made his Test and T20I debuts, and in 2013, he made his ODI debut.
Similarly, he made his One-Day International debut against India.
He was the tournament’s leading run-scorer at the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Root was also named the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year and the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World in 2021.
10. Aaron Finch
Aaron Finch is a 35-year-old Australian cricketer who serves as the team’s limited-overs captain.
In Australia, he played for the Victoria Surrey and the Melbourne Renegades.
He made his T20I debut against England in 2011 and his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2013.
Finch made his Test debut against Pakistan in 2018. He was the first player in T20I history to score 150 runs.
This top-order batsman now holds the record for two of the three highest individual T20I scorers and is the first player to reach 900 rating points in the ICC T20I rankings.
9. David Warner
David Warner, an Australian international cricketer and former captain of the Australian national team in the limited-overs game take our ninth slot as the top-order cricket batsman in ODIs.
Warner, 35, is a left-handed opening batsman. Warner earned his ODI and T20I debuts in 2009, while his Test debut came in 2011.
In his 100th ODI, he became the first Australian batsman and the eighth batsman in history to score a century.
Similarly, Warner’s 335 not out against Pakistan was the second-highest individual score by an Australian Test batsman in 2019.
8. Rassie van der Dussen
Rassie van der Dussen is a South African cricketer who is 33 years old.
He is a member of the South African national cricket team as well as the Highveld Lions cricket team.
Similarly, van der Dussen made his ODI and Test debuts in 2019 against Pakistan and England, respectively.
He was voted the International Men’s Newcomer of the Year at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards ceremony.

He is a former New Zealand national team captain and international cricketer.

Taylor made his Test debut the following year against South Africa.

De Kock debuted in T20Is in 2012 and ODIs in 2013, both against New Zealand.
De Kock became the fourth player in history to hit three consecutive one-day centuries and the second player in history to score four ODI centuries before the age of 21.
In 2017, he became the fastest player in history to reach 12 ODI hundreds.
4. Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma of India is our number four top-order cricket batter in ODIs, with an ODI batting rating of 791.
The 35-year-old is now the captain of India’s national squad.
Sharma is largely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in limited-overs cricket.
He made his ODI debut against Ireland and his T20I debut against England in 2007.
Similarly, he made his Test debut against the West Indies in 2013.
Sharma now owns the global record for the greatest individual score in an ODI.
He is the first player in ODI history to have three double-centuries.
He was named ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year after making five hundred in the 2019 World Cup.
Sharma is the captain of the Mumbai Indians, an Indian Premier League franchise.
The team has won the competition a record five times under his guidance.
3. Imam-ul-Haq III
Imam-ul-Haq, a Pakistani international cricketer, is ranked third among top-order batsmen in one-day internationals.
The 26-year-old made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2017.
Imam-ul-Haq became the second Pakistani batsman and the thirteenth in ODI history to achieve a century on debut.
As a result of this accomplishment, he was chosen man of the game.
He made his Test debut in a match against Ireland in 2018.
Similarly, in the fourth ODI against Zimbabwe in 2018, Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman established the highest opening partnership in ODIs.
Imam-ul-Haq made his T20I debut against England the next year, in 2019.
During the third ODI against South Africa, he also became the second-fastest batsman to reach 1,000 runs in ODIs.
Imam-ul-Haq achieved his first Test century in March 2022, followed by another century in the second innings.
He went on to become Pakistan’s tenth player to make a century in both innings of a Test.
2. Virat Kholi
33-year-old man Virat Kholi is a former Indian national cricket team captain and international player from India.
He is regarded as one of the best batters of his generation and the second-best ODI batsman.
Kholi made his One-Day International debut against Sri Lanka in 2008.
Similarly, he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in 2010 and his Test debut against the West Indies in 2011.
He was the top ODI batsman in the ICC rankings in 2013.
Similarly, he has been crowned the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World for three years in a row, as well as the renowned Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy.
